Irmo—A funeral service for James Robert Young, 89, of Irmo, will be held Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at Dutch Fork Baptist Church, 3517 Dreher Shoals Road, Irmo, SC 29063.Dr. Chuck McAlister and Mr. Ross Young will officiate. Burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Dutch Fork Baptist Church. James was born February 6, 1929 in Candler, NC to the late George Dewey Young and Jenny Mae Curtis Young.Hewent to his heavenly home on Wednesday, June 6, 2018.He formerly worked at Biltmore Dairy Farms, Sunbeam Farms, and retired from Safeway Stores in Washington, DC as a milk truck driver with 28 years of service. James was a faithful member of the Dutch Fork Baptist Church as well as a distinguished leader of the royal order of Moose. He served as the longest running governor of his lodge and president of the 5th district covering Maryland, Delaware and DC. He was also well known as a gardener in his community. Surviving is his spouse, Rosemary Craft Young of Irmo; daughters, Darlene Young Yingling of Candler, NC; Millie Fore (Phillip) of Irmo, SC; Linda Sears (Rick) of Wilmington, NC and Rhonda Metz (Joe) of Irmo, SC; sons, Bobby Young (Elva) of West Virginia; Bert Craft (Susan) of Chapin, SCand Ralph Craft of Columbia, SC, as well as a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. Those who have preceded in death besides his parents, is his first wife, Cora Lee Young; siblings, George Young, Edith Kilpatrick, Joan Parnel; Curtis Young.
