CHAPIN—James Connor Poole, 86, of Chapin, SC joined his heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 2, surrounded by his family. James is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Ola Toole Poole and their daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Glenn Brown, Columbia, SC, Brenda and Phil Snipes, Greenville, SC, and Judy and Pat Orman, Charlotte, NC. Grandsons, Matthew and Katie Snipes and great grandson Henry, Charlotte, NC, James and Kara Brown, Champagne, IL, Andrew Snipes, Charlotte, NC, Patrick Orman, Columbia, SC, Drake and Haleigh Orman, Charlotte, NC and Garrett and Emmy Snipes, Greenville, SC. James was born in Perry, SC on August 16, 1929 to the late Connor R. and Annie Matilda Fanning Poole.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mildred Axson, Poe Poole, Ober Poole and Ira Bee Poole and Bernice Williams. He was a member of Chapin Baptist Church and served as Deacon in past churches.He served in the SC National Guard.James retired from South Carolina Electric and Gas at the age of 55 after 35 years of service. James and Ola enjoyed a long retirement filled with RV camping, throughout the US and Canada and spending winters in Zephyrhills, FL.He loved meeting new friends and could fix anything!Our family is so blessed to have him as our Husband, Daddy, Father-in-law and Pop.He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him. Services will be held at Chapin Baptist Church, 950 Old Lexington Hwy, Chapin, SC 29036 on Sunday August 7, 2016.The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 – 2:45 pm, with service at 3:00 pm. Burial will be in the church graveyard.Temples-Halloran Funeral Home is assisting the family. Pallbearers will be his 6 beloved grandsons.
