COLUMBIA—James A. Kitson, 73 “Fathead” of Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 after a long illness. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio and was the son of the late Ralph and Rose Koncelik Kitson.He is survivied by his beloved spouse of 48 years, Paula Yasher Kitson;son, Jamie Kitson of Charleston; daughter, Julie McEvoy (Kevin) of Columbia and his buddy, Razz.He is also survived by many cousins and friends. Thanks to his dear friends, Marshall, Tom and cousin, Gary who have always been so supportive.He was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving during Vietnam War.He served as a Volunteer Fireman in Valley View, Ohio for 20 years, was Fire Chief from 1973-1981.He worked for Automatic Sprinkler from 1968-1982 and Simplex Grinnell from 1982 until he retired in 2011.Sales and Engineering for Fire Alarm and Security was his specialty.He was a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan.He belonged to Columbia’s Brown Backers Club and served as their president in 1999. A Memorial service will be held at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Presbyterian Community Home of South Carolina, 700 Davega Drive, Lexington, SC 29073.Temples Halloran Funeral Home will be assisting the family. Special thanks to the wonderful nurses and CNA’s at the Presbyterian Home who cared for Jim especially his Bonita, Leah and Robert.
