James B. Jones

James (Jim) B Jones, 79, of Columbia, SC, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017.He was a graduate of NC State and served in the Army for 8 years and was a Bronze Star recipient.Upon leaving the Army, Jim went to work for Owen Steel Company for 27 years.After Owen Steel, he worked for Metalplate Galvanizing where he served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing.Sixteen years later, he decided to retire and enjoy his family.He loved any opportunity that he had to tell about his Army days or any of his life adventures.If you sat down to have a brief talk with him then be prepared to have a long talk about life. He was predeceased by his wife, Glenda, of 38 years, his brother, Frank Jones, and his mother, Frances Jones.He is survived by his daughter, Shea (Mark) Boyce of Greenville, SC and son, Jimmy (Allyson) Jones of Columbia, SC.He also has four granddaughters, Meghan and Courtney Boyce and Stella and Lyla Jones, who he adored.Also surviving is a brother, Drew (Mary) Jones.Jim “Big Daddy” will be missed by many close friends who were like family. Visitation will be Sunday, November 19 from 5-6 p.m. at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home 5400 Bush River Rd, Columbia, SC 29212 .The Funeral will be Monday, November 20 at 1p.m. at the Chapel at Union United Methodist Church, 7582 Woodrow St, Irmo, SC 29063. Interment will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road Columbia S.C. 29212 with military honors.
