Jackie Mathias Herron

Jack “Jackie” Mathias Herron, 56, of 176 Jefferson Place passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2023. Born in Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late Donnie Herron, Donna Mathias, and James Stowell. A graduate of Irmo High School, Jack went on to become an accomplished welder and landscaper. Jack had a love for the outdoors and a gift for gardening which ensured he was surrounded by beautiful landscapes and the peace of nature often. A loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Jack eagerly supported his favorite NFL team. Jack enjoyed playing football but always prepared to slow down and go fishing in the pond near his home. When asked by his daughter, Lindsay, what he caught when fishing he said, “Well nothin.” He simply enjoyed the tranquility of being by the water and casting his line. Jack was intelligent, hilarious, an innovator with duct tape, and an occasional curmudgeon. There was no one like Jack – we will miss him dearly. Surviving is his daughter, Lindsay Herron; sisters, Amber Davidson (Brian), Barbara Ann “Sissy” Stowell; nieces, extended family, and many close friends. Visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Temples – Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC, 29212.
