On Sunday, July 26, 2020, the Conger family lost their hero, their backbone, and the patriarch of the family, Jack Lee Conger, 75, of Leesville, SC.Jack passed away surrounded by his loving family. He was born to parents John F. Conger and Virginia Rose Smith Conger, on April 15, 1945, in Springfield, Ohio.Mr. Conger proudly served his country in the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran also a Purple Heart recipient. Jack married, Rhea, the love of his life, in 1969, who survives him.Jack is also survived by his three daughters; Melinda McFee (Justin), Stacy Jeffcoat (Patrick), and Hope McFadden (DJ); his sister, Nancy Smithwick; his grandchildren:Sarah, Baileigh (Jeremy), Emilee, Walker, Faith, Kyle, Arley, and Alex; great-grandchildren; Brooke, Grayson, and Kaydance.Those who preceded him in death besides his late parents were his 6 siblings. Jack was known for his love for his wife and his family.As he got older, his heart grew bigger and bigger.Jack will be missed by all that knew him. The private graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229, in light of the COVID 19 Pandemic, social distancing will be practiced and masks are mandatory at the service.
