CHAPIN—Memorial service for Irene K. Moore, 102, of Chapin will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Temples Halloran Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Albert Cox.Visitation will follow service at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Mrs. Moore was born January 6, 1914 in Budapest, Hungary.She was the daughter of the late John Kovach and Rosa Lee Didics Kovach.She came to the United States in 1921 and signed the book at Ellis Island. Irene was educated in the United States and later moved to Ohio and started working in the Rayon Plant where she met her beloved husband, Donald J. Moore.They later moved to Columbia with their daughter, Rose Marie and in 1970 moved to Chapin on the Lake. They loved camping and were in many bowling league. Irene continued to bowl until she was 98 years old. She was a member of Chapin United Methodist Church and also attended the Catholic Church. She loved gardening, had a green thumb and was teased that she could make toothpicks grow. She and her late husband also participated in Meals on Wheels and were the owners and operators of the Lakeside Motel, Highways 301-15 in Summerton, SC. Surviving is her loving grandson, Stephen Michael Quinlan.She was preceded in death by and her husband, Donald J. Moore and her daughter, Rose Marie Quinlan.
