Columbia—G. Virginia Beene, 95, went to be with the Lord on March 17, 2015.Her husband, Rev. Marion Beene, preceded her by 15 years. Born in Seymour, Iowa, in 1920, she grew up in Ponca City, OK, and graduated from Oklahoma State University (A&M) majoring in music and began a teaching career in music and elementary education spanning 39 years.She was a master teacher and model evangelist and pastor’s wife, often serving as revival or church pianist and Bible teacher based for many years in Oklahoma City.Her gifted musicianship was dedicated to the honor of her Lord and endeared her to countless worshipers and audiences. She is survived by her only daughter Cathy (husband, Rev. Terry) Strickland of Columbia, SC; her grandson Philip (wife, Danielle) Strickland and great-granddaughter, Ansley; and granddaughter, Paula Strickland Branscheid (husband Peter).A home-going service conducted by Rev. Tom Capps will be celebrated at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC, 29212 at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 19, 2015.Visitation will be following the service at the funeral home.A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015 in Memorial Gardens in Oklahoma City. There will be a receiving of family and friends at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Southeran Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
