Columbia—A Mass of Christian Burial for Gretchen Lynn Mader, 59, of Columbia, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2016 at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, 120 Marydale Lane, Columbia, SC 29210. The Reverend Peter Sousa, C.Ss.R., will be officiating.Burial will follow in Chapin United Methodist Church, 415 Lexington Ave, Chapin, SC 29036. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Mrs. Mader, beloved wife of Doug Mader passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. Born in Painesville, Ohio to Betsy Adams Daugherty and the late Newell M. Daugherty. She was a graduate of Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West VA. She married the love of her life, Doug in 1984, she devoted herself to being a fulltime wife and mother, where she home-schooled her two daughters and enjoyed helping them with their dance classes at Celestial Stars.She was a member of Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church. Her favorite hobbies were reading and sewing, she enjoyed volunteering for Birthright of Columbia. Surviving in addition to her husband of 32 years, Doug Mader of Columbia; mother, Betsy Adams Daugherty of Columbia; daughters, Jane Mader and Nora Mader both of the home; brother, Bill Daugherty (Maria) of Springfield, VA; along with a number of nieces and nephews.
