Joseph Edward "Joey" Monts

Joseph Edward “Joey” Monts, of Chapin, went home to be with Jesus on March 2, 2024. He was born on June 15, 1982. He was a beloved husband, dad, son, brother and uncle. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 13 years, Kristen; his daughter, Maria; his parents, Earl and Cathy Monts; his brother, Jamie (Connie) Monts; his sister, Christy (Daryl) Hooker; his loving nieces, Katy, Caroline and Samantha; and other relatives and friends. Joey loved watching NASCAR and was a huge Clemson fan. He loved playing his guitars. He will be missed by his cat, Luna. Joey worked with Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission for 13 years. One part of his job he enjoyed was using his talents to help with the holiday light displays at Saluda Shoals each year. Prior to ICRC, Joey worked with Monts Construction Company. The funeral service for Joey will be on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Ashland United Methodist Church. The Reverend Scott Efird will officiate. Burial at Bush River Memorial Gardens will follow the service. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home.
