A gathering celebrating the life of Germaine Stanley McClure, of Columbia, will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, in the Chapel of Temples-Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, South Carolina, 29212, at 12 pm. The burial will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the Blue Ridge Church of the Brethren in Blue Ridge, Virginia. Germaine was born on April 13, 1946, in Stuart, Virginia, and departed this earthly life on January 23, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Herman F. Stanley and Dorothy Corns. Germaine was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a South Carolina Master Gardener. In the 1970s, she did commercials for Kroger grocery stores in the Midwest. Her passions in life included gardening, her children and grandchildren, the community garden club, caring for her backyard chickens, and sharing her expertise with others. She was a member of Seven Oaks Presbyterian Church. Germaine was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Charles L. McClure; her parents, and brothers Frank Stanley and Roland Stanley. Surviving family members include daughters: Andrea Meyers (Michael) of Virginia and Angela Hayes (Jim) of Michigan; sons: Jeff McClure (Elizabeth) of Indiana and Matt McClure (Keely) of South Carolina; and nine grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made in Germaine's honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105; the McClure Family Cemetery Trust for maintenance and beautification of the old family cemetery where many of our loved ones are buried in Blue Ridge, VA; or a charity or organization of your choice.
