George Young Hix

Columbia – George Young Hix, 85, of Columbia passed away peacefully at his home during his sleep on Monday morning, February 14, 2022. Born in Anderson, SC, he was the son of Pat and Ruby Hix and the beloved husband for fifty-five years of the late Judy Marie Hawkins Hix. A private burial service by his family is to be arranged. George Young, nicknamed GY, was a proud graduate of the University of South Carolina, class of 1958, and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He then went on to serve as an officer in the US Marine Corps and faithfully served his local community for over 40 years as a Shriner (Keystone Cops). He loved his family, his morning paper, his dog, his truck, and the fighting Gamecocks. Surviving is his daughter, Georgia Wilson (Danny) of Riverside, CA, and his son, Christopher Hix (Patty) of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Cameron Marie, Connor, Joshua, and Hanna Marie. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in honor of GY to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 950 W Faris Rd, Greenville, SC 29605.
