Gene Wayne Baughman

West Columbia—A funeral service for Gene Wayne Baughman, 77, of West Columbia, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Temples Halloran Funeral Home Chapel.The Reverend Paul Allen will officiate.Burial will follow in West Side Baptist Church Cemetery.The family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Baughman was born in Columbia, SC, on February 9, 1943, to the late Carlton Baughman and Annie Hazel Kyzer Baughman.He passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020.Gene enjoyed photography, stamp collecting and shagging with his friends as a member of the Columbia Shag Club, Palmetto Shag Club and at Capital City Shag Club.He was also an avid marksman and re-loader.Gene retired as Food Distributor Factory Representative. Surviving are his children, Tara Scozzaro (Dave) and Travis Baughman; grandchildren, Luke Scozzaro and Sadie Scozzaro; sisters, Edith Shealy (Melton), and Marie Drake; brother, Thomas Baughman (LaVon Freeman). Gene was preceded in death by his brother, Carl Ray Baughman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society, 200 Center Point Circle, Ste. 100, Columbia, SC 29210.
