Gary Edward Perkins

GARY EDWARD PERKINS June 10, 1944 – February 7, 2015 Gary Edward Perkins, 70 entered peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday, February 7th 2015 in Columbia, SC. Gary was born on June 10, 1944 in Morristown, NJ to the late John and Roberta Perkins. He was a graduate of Long Branch High School class of 1962. Before becoming a professional Structural Steel Detailer of over 40 years he served our country with the United States Navy in 1963-1967 serving in Illinois, Connecticut, Virginia, South Carolina, and Spain. Gary is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marilyn Perkins of Columbia SC, his children Terri Vinson (Tom) of Raleigh NC, Christine Romero-Fredes (Will) also of Raleigh NC, and Robert Perkins (Christie) of Columbia, SC. He is also missed greatly by his grandchildren Jamie and Christopher Vinson, Hannah Romero-Fredes, Isabel, Grace & Noah Perkins. Gary was a very loving and dedicated husband, father, pop pop and friend. His personality was infectious and his laughter was joyful. He was the life of the party and loved by those who knew him. A celebration of Gary’s life and his love of his Savior Jesus Christ will be officiated by his son Robert (Bob) Perkins on March 7th, 2:00pm at the Temples-Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Rd., Columbia, SC 29212 with Military Honors. A time of fellowship will be held at New Life Baptist Church, 2825 Ashland Road, Columbia, SC 29210 following the service.
