Fred C. Meetze,

Mr. Fred C. Meetze Sr. passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, November 7, 2020, in Chapin, South Carolina at the age of 85. Fred was born on November 9, 1934, in Columbia, SC to Gilbert, and Mildred Meetze. He graduated from Irmo High School and served in the United States Army. He married Jennie, an Alabama girl, in 1954 and had three children. Fred eventually opened his own business, Fred C. Meetze Company, a commercial glass and glazing contracting company, where he served the midlands for over 30 years. You can see some of his work across the Midlands, including the stained-glass window at The First Church of the Nazarene on St. Andrews Road. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, rock-hound, facetor, and silversmith who spent most of his time crafting beautiful jewelry pieces and gems and enjoyed teaching others about his craft. Fred is survived by his wife, Jennie Meetze; children, Sharon Drennan of Chapin, SC, and Fred Meetze Jr. of Columbia, SC; siblings, Bernard Meetze (Linda) of Simpsonville, SC, Larry Meetze (Diane) of Columbia, SC and Andy Meetze (Leanne) of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Leslie Barnes of Camden, SC, Amy Burke (RJ)of Pomaria, SC and Matthew Drennan of Chapin, SC; and great-grandchildren, Coleman Amick, Dayton Amick, Hailey Barnes, and Fisher Burke. He is preceded in death by parents, Gilbert and Mildred Meetze; son, Gilbert Meetze; brothers, Dennis Meetze, and Charles Meetze; sister, Catherine Meetze. There will be a graveside service held on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at Bush River Memorial Gardens in Columbia, SC at 2:00 pm. The family will be receiving family and friends directly after the service graveside. Service will be held outside rain or shine.
