Frances Neal Hammond French, 97 passed away on Saturday, September 16. Born February 4, 1926 in Columbia, SC to the late Arthur and Maggie Hammond, she is preceded in death by her husband of over 70 years, Major Isaac Sheldon French, (Ret.)three brothers, Dean, John, and Henry Hammond, four sisters, Marie Hallman, Katherine Douglas, Mary Danelly, Sug Riley, and one great granddaughter, Annabelle Lynn Butcher. Frances is survived by her four children, Robert French of Southport, NC, Dianne Butcher (Richard) of White Rock, SC, Doug French (Sherry) of Little Mountain, SC, Gary French (Beth) of Clinton, SC, 12 grandchildren, Pamela Frandano, Leslie Sheppard (Blake), Laura Conrad (Gary), Scott Butcher (Rebecca), Jennifer Lowery (Robert), Julie Kimble (Kevin), Brittany Butcher, Brian French (Cheryl), Michael French (Jeanne) Tim French (Monica), Marshall French (Leah) Elliott French (Katie), and 29 great grandchildren, Andy and Kate Sheppard, John and Joe Frandano, Jed and Molly-Grace Conrad, Wyatt, Luke, Ailee-James and Andie-Grace Butcher, Maggie, Claire, and Alyson Lowery, Dawson Butcher, Alex Slice, Bethany, Andrew, Lydia, and Stephen French, Kaitlin Hamilton (Bryce), Chandler and Kendall French, Jamie Farmer (Forest), Savannah French, Carolina and Cullen French, Riley, Ella Kate and Jackson French. Frances loved the Lord, her children, grandchildren, and her many friends. She was a faithful charter member of Riverland Hills Baptist Church, serving on many committees, directing youth activities, and the senior adult fellowship club. She loved gardening, traveling, and a good bridge game. She and Ike enjoyed their West Jefferson mountain home and the many friends they made there over the years. Her enduring faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour brought her the assurance of a home in Heaven, and she witnessed that faith to others up until her last days on earth. Visitation will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 21 at Temples Halloran Funeral Home, Irmo, SC with funeral service at 3 p.m. Burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens.
