F. Rhett Brockington

F. Rhett Brockington, 76, of Columbia, passed away on November 14, 2023 and he was surrounded by his caring family. Born in Columbia, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Francis S. and Helen B. Brockington. Rhett was a graduate of the Citadel and went on to complete his Doctorate at the University of South Carolina. He spent most of his working life as a research scientist and as a civilian patent agent for the Department of the Navy. Rhett loved sailing and was lovingly referred to as a man of science and the sea. He was a devoted brother, a loving husband, a doting father, and an affectionate grandfather, also fondly known as P-pa. Those left to mourn his loss include his devoted wife of 47 years: Elizabeth “Liz” Brockington; his daughter: Kelly Brockington Neiser and her husband, Eric; his sister: Sheri Green and her husband, David; his brother: Richard Brockington and his wife, Kathy; and his two beautiful grandchildren: Rhett and Thomas Neiser. In addition to his parents, Rhett was also predeceased by his brother, Wayne Brockington and his sister, Sandra Noe. Temples-Halloran Funeral Home is supporting his family during this difficult time.
