Frances June Eargle Steadman, 96, of Columbia, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2024. Born on June 6, 1928, June was the daughter of the late James Verne and Allie Rauch Eargle. June grew up in Peak in Newberry County and graduated from Pomaria High School in 1944. She was the class valedictorian. June married Charles P. “Jack” Steadman and spent her days as a housewife raising two boys. She was a devoted wife for 48 years and an affectionate mother who supported all of her sons’ activities. June was an excellent cook who loved working in the yard and tending to her garden. She was a charter member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church and the president of the Church Council numerous times. June will be remembered by her two sons: Charles “La Verne” Steadman and Patrick W. Steadman (Dianne); her sister: Verne Ruth Eargle Free; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. June was preceded in death by her father in 1992, her husband in 1995, and her mother in 2007. A graveside service will be held for family and friends at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 24, 2024 in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, 622 Hope Station Rd, Pomaria, SC 29126. Reverend John Trump will be officiating.
