COLUMBIA—A Mass of Christian Burial for Ernest Carl Rouse, 73, of Columbia, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 2, 2018 at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church with Father John Murray officiating.The family will receive friends from 9-9:50 a.m. at the church. Ernest was born in Pontiac, MI on April 5, 1945 and was the son of the late Carl Rouse and Betty Melchert Rouse.He passed away at Palmetto Health Richland on Thursday, October 25, 2018.Ernie graduated from Oxford High School and met his beloved wife while attending Eastern Michigan University.Ernie loved music and had a band named, the “Suitcasers”. He had a passion for building, fishing, hunting and gardening. The family moved from Michigan to South Carolina in 1985.He and his wife, Mary Ellen,were longtime members of Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church. Surviving in addition to his wife of 53 years, Mary Ellen Rouse; daughters, Mary Beth Brissette (Christopher), Cynthia Ann Main (Arthur), Kathleen Hunter (Earl) and Amy Rouse; sons, Ernest Paul Rouse and David Rouse (Courtney); 5 brothers; 19 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren as well as the beloved terrier, Lucky.Those who preceded him in death besides his parents, one brother, Perry. In lieu of flowers, the Rouse family asks that memorials made to Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, 120 Marydale Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 and/or the Charity of ones choice.
