Emily Jane Matthews Brooks

CHAPIN—Memorial service for Emily Jane Matthews Brooks, 68 of Chapin, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Temples Halloran Funeral Home Chapel.The Reverend Adrienne Fink will be officiating.The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home. Emily passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017.Born in Darlington, SC she was the daughter of the late James Franklin Matthews and Emily Munn Matthews.She attended Red Bank Baptist Church. She was owner and operator of Brooks Furniture Store for more then 30 years and also operated Brooks Real Estate Company.She loved fishing and the outdoors. Surviving is her best friend and companion, Tommy Downs of Chapin; son, James “Pete”Allen Stephens of Blythewood and step-son, Doug Brooks of Lexington; sister, Alice Padgett (John) of Lexington; brother, Barney Matthews of Darlington; and two grandchildren. The family would like to thank Palmetto Senior Care for their many years of compassionate care for Emily.
