Elfriede E. “Frieda” LeCroy, 80, of Columbia, passed away on January 6, 2021 at Jenni Lynn Senior Living in West Columbia, S.C.Elfriede was born on June 4, 1940 in Altdorf bei Nürnberg, Germany.She was the youngest child of Ulrich Edelhausser and Therese Dorr Edelhausser. Elfriede was a stellar homemaker.She excelled in all handiwork to include: sewing, knitting, crocheting, and embroidery.She was an avid fresh water and deep-sea fisherwoman.She had a very direct wit, was the life of the party, and could throw a mean game of darts.Elfriede immigrated to the United States with her military husband and became an American citizen in 1967. Mrs. LeCroy is preceded in death by her husband, James Franklin LeCroy, her son, James Franklin LeCroy, Jr. of Columbia, her parents, one sister, and four brothers of Altdorf, Germany. Those left to mourn her passing but celebrate her life include her daughter, Cornelia M. “Connie” Fogle (Carl); son, Steven M. LeCroy, of McCormick, S.C.; granddaughters, Elizabeth Michelle Martin and Heather Marie Martin; and great grandchildren, Hunter James Bass and Anna Elizabeth Bass. Mrs. LeCroy’s family wishes to thank the caring staff of Jenni Lynn Senior Living for their excellent care and loving kindness during her stay there.Mrs. LeCroy’s family also wish to thank the nurses, staff and Dr. Stan McCloy at All Season’s Health and Hospice for their care of her and the family. A private celebration will be held by Mrs. LeCroy’s family.A gathering to Celebrate the Life of Elfriede will be held for friends at a date to be announced.Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
