Eleanor Bouknight Talbert, 87, of Columbia, passed away at NHC – Lexington on Sunday, January 14, 2024. She was born in Columbia, SC on August 17, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Joel Ausburn and Della Estelle Bouknight. Eleanor was a long-time, devoted member of St. Andrews Baptist Church and sang in the Senior Choir. She was a homemaker and worked for a number of years at Tapp’s Department Store in the Men’s Department. Eleanor is survived by her sons, Charles Laney “Chuck” (fiancé Anne Black) Talbert of Charleston, SC and Joel Preston (Margaret) Talbert of Fair Hope, AL; and her brothers, Dwight (Linda) Bouknight and Herman Bouknight of Columbia, SC. She is also survived by her grandchildren Dalton (Carly) Talbert of Charleston, SC, Laney (Matthew) Friedman of Charleston, SC, Kristen (Tyler) Jones of Fair Hope, AL, her great-grandchildren, Charley Rose Friedman and Sutton Jones, and special nephew and niece, Derrell Sipes and Susan Amick. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Charles Laney Talbert, Jr. A funeral service will be held for Eleanor at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024, in the chapel of Temples-Halloran Funeral Home. The Reverend Ronald Dee Vaughn will officiate. Burial will be private.
