LEXINGTON – Funeral service for Eleanor Betty Evergetis, 87, of Lexington will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212.Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery.The family will greet friends from 9:30-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.There will be a lunch after the funeral at the home of Corinne and Lee Cox, 120 Shoal Creek Circle, Lexington, SC 29072, for all who wish to join the family. Mrs. Evergetis, beloved wife of 39 years to the late Dr. James Demetrius Evergetis, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015.Born in Millville, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Harrison “Harry” Cranmer and Arinda Stevenson Cranmer.As a junior at Millville High School she began her career as an office secretary where she worked for 15 years.Eleanor graduated in the top 5 of her class where she received a Literary Award in 1945.Eleanor was the educational secretary to the Principal.She met her husband in the summer of 1949 where he was an Agricultural Teacher at Millville High School.They married in 1951; built their first home together themselves, had their first child in 1957, followed by 5 more children.In 1980, Eleanor became a Real Estate Agent, from 1985-1990, she and her husband owned and operated Northeast Beverage Outlet.Eleanor became a published author and poet in the early 90’s and authored the book “The Mansion” in which she accomplished her dream.She was a faithful member of the Moulton Memorial Baptist Church in Newburgh, NY where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school class.Eleanor was also a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church in Columbia, SC. Surviving are her daughters, Corinne P. Cox and husband, Lee of Lexington, Linda M. Heitman and husband, Bob of Ooltewah, TN and Melanie S. DelGaudio and husband Paul, of Frenchtown, NJ; sons, Mark D. Evergetis and wife Tammy, of Ridgeway, SC and Craig S. Evergetis and wife, Christy of Lugoff, SC; grandchildren, Jordan Cox, Leslea Heitman, Clint Evergetis, Leyanne DelGaudio, Dyan DelGaudio, Sarah Altvater, Marisa DelGaudio and David DelGaudio; great-grandchildren, Silas Heitman, Christian DelGaudio-Greenidge, Kayley Greenidge, Sophia Altvater, Cole Altvater, McKenzie DelGaudio; sister, Judith Ann Fithian and husband, Roger of Christiansburg, VA and sister-in-law, Bertha Cranmer of Millville, NJ; numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Timothy J. Evergetis, sister, Verna Marie Alampi, Arminda “Sis” Cranmer, Areatha Cranmer; brothers, Lawrence Cranmer, Harry Cranmer, Bill Cranmer, Arnold Cranmer and Alfred Cranmer.
