Eileen Knutson Dean

Eileen Knutson Dean, 97, passed from this life on January 5, 2025, in Lexington, SC. Eileen was predeceased by her beloved husband, Romeo “Joe” Dean in 2006 after 59 years of marriage.

Eileen was born in Minneapolis, MN on June 17, 1927, to Julianne and Christ Knutson. She was next to the oldest of eight children. She is survived by two siblings: Russ Knutson of New Hampshire and Rosemary Knutson of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

After their marriage in 1946, Eileen and Joe lived in various South Carolina cities where he worked with South Carolina National/ Wachovia Banks in Greenville, Sumter, Florence and Columbia. Both were active members in the Lutheran/Episcopal churches where they lived. Eileen was also an avid Bridge player and enjoyed that hobby in various Bridge Clubs into her 90’s.

Eileen is the beloved mother of Claudia Fleming (Bill), Julie Flowers (John), Carol Fuller (Allen); grandmother of Dean Chandler, Eileen Lantrip, David Flowers, Glenn Harbarger, Helen Johnson and the great-grandmother of six.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 400 Harbison Boulevard, Columbia, South Carolina 29212, with the Reverend Michael Price officiating. Visitation will be held in the narthex of the church one hour prior to the service. A private family interment will follow at Bush River Memorial Gardens.
