COLUMBIA—Edna Louise Pitts, 77, of Columbia, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Lexington Medical Center. The funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2016.at Riverland Hills Baptist Church, 201 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, SC 29063 with entombment in Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bethel Sunday School Class. The Ministerial staff at Riverland Hills Baptist Church will be officiating the service. Temples Halloran Funeral Home will be assisting the family with the arrangements. Edna Louise Pitts was born in Sumter, SC on June 7, 1939.The daughter of the late E. J. Newman and Edna R. Newman.Louise graduated from Edmonds High School in Sumter, SC in 1957.Married to her high school sweetheart, James C. Pitts, she lived most of her adult life in Columbia, SC.Louise was a longtime member of the Columbia Jr. Women’s Club and The Red Stockings Review for years.She retired from the Lexington/Richland School District #5 and was a member at Riverland Hills Baptist Church since 1970. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, James C. Pitts; son, David C. Pitts (Florence) of Chapin, SC; daughter, Julie R. Pitts ofLynch, Kentucky; her beloved grandson, D. Austin Pitts of Chapin, SC; sisters, Jessie Carter (Tom) and Shirley Ashmore (John) of Sumter, SC.
