A private family Celebration of Life will be held for Edith Grisso Savitz on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, in Bush River Memorial Gardens.It will be officiated by the Reverend Dr. William “Bill” Paulling.Edie was the daughter of the late Emmette Ira and Lavolette Crickenberger Grisso. Edie was the beloved wife of 61 years to the late Russel Lynn Savitz.She was predeceased by her daughter, Karen S. Baughman, three sisters, Jean, Mary, and Kaye, and two brothers, Ike and Tommy. Edie met her future husband in Washington, DC when they both worked with the FBI.Russ’ FBI career took them to several states before settling in Columbia, SC.They were active members of St. Andrews Baptist Church.They enjoyed spending time at their home on Lake Murray fishing and watching hummingbirds.Edie and Russ also enjoyed spending time with their family and friends. Edie was known for her laughter.She enjoyed movies, jokes, and visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are her children, Kim S. Oswalt (David), Kathy S. Jennings (Michael) and Russel L. Savitz, Jr.; grandchildren, Jennifer Rhoades (Joey), David Oswalt, Jr. (Kaitlin), Daniel Oswalt (Amanda), Ashley Eckenbrecht (Andrew), Kristin Allison (Michael), Jessie Baron (Brent) and Jake Baughman; along with 12 great-grandchildren. A special thanks to Gladys Cullum,for the care of our Mother. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 410 Harbison Blvd, Columbia, SC 29212, or Mt. Ebal Baptist Church, 5 Lion Loop, Batesburg, SC 29006.
