The funeral services for Eddie P. Roland, Jr., will be held Thursday, January 28, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in Mount Olive Lutheran Church 1541 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, SC 29063.Burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. The Reverend Walt Harper will officiate. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday, January 28, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. in the church fellowship hall. Temples Halloran Funeral Home will be assisting the family. Eddie P Roland, Jr. of Irmo SC, died Monday, January 25, 2021, at his home in Irmo.Born in Lexington County, he was the only child of the late Eddie P. Roland, Sr., and Mary Evelene Kaminer Roland.He attended grades 1-6 in Lexington County’s original White Knoll School.It was a wooden two-room building with outdoor toilets outback.He was a graduate of Lexington High School, Richland Tec. (now Midlands Tec.) and the University of South Carolina, with a B.S. in Engineering.His senior year, he was President of Pi Tau Sigma, Honorary Mechanical Engineering Fraternity.He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He was formerly employed by Central Chevrolet, R C Motor Lines, and was a retired engineer with South Carolina Electric and Gas Co.Eddie proudly served in the South Carolina Air National Guard and the United States Air Force Reserve. Earlier, he had been a member of St. James Lutheran in Red Bank, SC and Dutch Fork Baptist Church, Ballentine, SC.He was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Irmo, SC.At various times and churches, he had served on church council, building committee, and as a Sunday school teacher. He is survived by his loving wife, Polly Slice Roland; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Mary Elizabeth Adams Roland of Conyers, GA; son, Gregory Scott Roland of Irmo, SC; granddaughter, Christina Nicole Roland of Conyers, Ga. Flowers will be accepted or memorials can be to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Building Fund.
