Dwight Nunamaker Derrick

COLUMBIA—A celebration of life for Dwight Nunamaker Derrick, husband of Susan Frost Derrick will be held at Union United Methodist Church, 7582 Woodrow Street, Irmo, SC 29063 at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2018, Reverend Stephen Taylor and Reverend Jim Nates will officiate. The Derrick Family will receive friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall. Mr. Derrick passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2018.He was the son of the late Curtis Weldon and Thelma Nunamaker Derrick. Dwight was a member of Union United Methodist Church where he served many years as treasurer and was a member of the John Rowland Sunday School Class.He and his wife, Susan, owned and operated All Seasons Garden Center for over 30 years. Dwight helped start the Irmo Fire District and served as a District Fire Commissioner for over 50 years prior to retiring. Dwight was a member of the Boyleston Lodge 123 in Ballentine, the Jamil Temple Shriners and was a member of the Irmo Navy. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 57 years, Susan; son, Curt Derrick (Lynn); daughter, Debbie Mclver (Wesley) and the four loves of his life, his grandchildren, Kaitlyn Derrick, Kellyn Lee Derrick, Kolby Mclver and Bryce Mclver.He is survived by his brothers, CW Derrick and Dan Derrick (Sandra);sisters, Nell Bailey and Jennie Ellisor (David “Bo”). The family would like to express a special thanks to all the staff at PACE White Rock and Bethany Memory Care Unit at the Lowman Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Leeza’s Care Connection, 201 St. Andrews Road, Columbia, SC 29210 or Union United Methodist Church, 7582 Woodrow Street, Irmo, SC 29063.
