A Homegoing Service celebrating the life of Douglas Garfield Edmunds will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service in Bush River Memorial Gardens. Pastor Keith Woodard will be officiating. Douglas rested from labor to reward and entered into eternal rest on March 12, 2023, at this home with family surrounding him. He was born on August 9, 1952, to Mr. Walter James Edmunds and Mrs. Aileen Adams Edmunds. Douglas attended public school in Fairfield County and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1970, the last class to graduate from Fairfield High School. After high school, he attended Benedict College and graduated in 1974 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art. He was a baptized believing member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church where he attended regularly. He later joined Ephesus SDA Church in Columbia, SC. He was employed with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department as a police officer and sketch artist. He later worked for Glidden Paint Company and retired from Republic National Distribution Company. In addition to his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by his loving wife, Pondories’ Edmunds, sister Kathleen Edmunds, and brothers, James Adams, Sidney Edmunds, and Stanley Edmunds. Left to cherish his memories are his twin children, Victor Edmunds of Orlando, FL; Victoria (Benjamin) Bennett of Columbia, SC; and Ramona (Morris) Johnson of Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Oscar (Geneva) Edmunds of Columbia, SC, and Thomas (Margurite) Edmunds of Ridgeway, SC; one sister, Shirley Edmunds of Ridgeway, SC; nine grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
