COLUMBIA—Mrs. Dorothy Collins Nimmons entered into God’s Glory on March 3, 2016 in Evans, GA, surrounded by her loving family.Committal for Mrs. Nimmons will be a family graveside service on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m Bush River Memorial Gardens. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Monday, March 7, at Centennial Associate Reformed Presbyterian (ARP) Church, 1413 Laurel Street, Columbia, SC, at 11:00 a.m. in the Church vestibule. The service will follow at 11:30. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Gertrude MacKendree Collins and Thomas Clarence Collins, Sr., and the wife of the late Holland McTeer Nimmons, Jr.She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary C. Boland, and her brothers, Thomas Clarence Collins Jr., William MacKendree Collins, and Keith Hamilton Collins. She was a graduate of Dreher High School.She married, loved and cared for our Dad,and as a homemaker cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Our Mom was a faithful member of Centennial ARP Church, attended the Unity Edward’s Sunday School Class, and taught the 4 and 5 year old Sunday School Class for close to 30 years.She also enjoyed being a member of the Mary Martha Bible Study Class. Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Debra N. Flippo (Richard A., Sr.) of North Augusta and Gina N. Badendick (Edward C.) of Irmo; two sons,Mark Steven Nimmons (Catherine P.) of Calhoun Falls and Michael Brady Nimmons (Laura) of Irmo.She is survived by grandchildren, Ashley F. Streett (Christopher S.), Nicole F. Crook (Dr. Erik S.), Richard A. Flippo, Jr., Jennifer P. Hutchinson (Dr. Steven), Stephen Hunter Nimmons, and Hannah Marie Nimmons; great-grandchildren are Holland Emerson Lam and Kyle Darr Lam, Sterling Grace Streett, Cameron Nicole Crook and Carson Ansley Crook and Elizabeth Reagan Hutchinson. Temples-Halloran Funeral Home is assisting the family.The family wishes to express their deep gratitude for the care provided by the staff of Madison Heights Memory Care Center, Evans GA.In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Centennial ARP Church, 1413 Laurel Street, Columbia, SC 29201 or to the Alzheimer’s Association of SC, 3223 Sunset Blvd, Ste. 100, West Columbia, SC 29169.
