Doris Duke Morris July 25, 1930 – August 7, 2019 Doris Duke Morris passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s at her home on August 7, 2019, surrounded by her family.She was born July 25, 1930, in Greensboro, NC to O.W. & Lera Estelle (McGee) Duke.Doris is survived by her beloved husband of over 70 years, Richard Sheppard Morris, III.She and Richard had four children: Richard Sheppard Morris, IV, (deceased), David (Patty) Morris, Robert (Ree) Morris, Linda (Zack) Crumpton, and daughter-in-law Arlene Morris.Surviving grandchildren are Kelly Morris, Kathryn Morris, Cooper Morris, and Colby Morris.A surviving great-grandson, Parker Morris. Doris was a loving wife and mother.She was a member of the Baha’i Faith. When in her forties, Doris attended college while raising her two younger children.She graduated with honors from the University of South Carolina in 1982, Magna Cum Laude with a BS degree in psychology.She was a proud member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.Later she enjoyed substitute teaching at the local schools.Doris was admired and respected by many people.She was a deep “thinker” and provided guidance on living to countless people over the years.There is no doubt that the time Doris spent on this earth had a very positive impact! The family will greet friends at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Rd., Columbia, SC 29212 on Monday, August 12th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.The service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 13th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to: Comfort Care Hospice 2211 Lake Murray Blvd. Columbia, SC 29212 “Oh God, guide me, protect me.Illumine the lamp of my heart, and make me a brilliant star.Thou art the mighty and powerful.”
