CHAPIN—Funeral Services for Donald Dwight Vaughn, 84, of Chapin will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 26, 2015 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 6952 St. Andrews Road, Columbia, SC 29212 with Reverend Dr. Dale Welden officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 or St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 6952 St. Andrews Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Donald D. Vaughn, beloved husband of Beverly P. Vaughn, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015.Born in Fairfield, ILL, he was the son of the late John Stafford Vaughn and Laura Stewart Vaughn. Donald grew-up in Evansville, IN and was a graduate of University of Indiana.He proudly served in the United State Army during the Korean War. He worked and lived all over the Northeast, working in Personnel for many major corporations. Moving to Columbia in 1975 with the NCR Corporation where he worked for 23 years as Human Resource Manager prior to his retirement.He always told everyone he considered Columbia his home.Before retirement he and Beverly built their retirement home on Lake Murray in Chapin.He loved fishing and was an avid Gamecocks Fan.The love of his life besides his wife and daughter was his grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his wife of 61 years, Beverly; daughter, Ginger Spires (Doug) of Irmo; two grandchildren, Brice Spires and Reed Spires; sister, Darlene McDurmon (Gene) of Mt Vernon, Indiana; he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lowell, Frank and Randell.
