Donald J. Alred

The memorial service for Donald J. Alred, 87, of Columbia, will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Irmo (7068 Nursery Road, Columbia, SC 29212). Don was born on May 31, 1935, in Atlanta, Georgia, and departed this life at his residence on March 2, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Don was the son of the late Roscoe J. Alred and Lucille Johnson Alred. He was a charter member of First Baptist Church of Irmo and served in many capacities through the years. Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Christine Jackson Alred; his daughters Neysa Norton (David), Donna Alred McNair (Carlisle), and Allison Branham (Tim); his son, Matt Alred (Linda); and his sister Beverly Crowe. Don is also survived by his grandchildren, Desmann Batzel; Brandi Bradley; Dustin Batzel; Morgan Spicer; Heather Crowder; Steven Crowder; Corey Branham; and Christina Daniels, and his great-grandchildren, Tyler Bradley; Landon Bradley; Mackenzie (Mack) Bradley; Able Crowder; Sammy Spicer; CoraLee Branham; and Marley Branham. In addition to his parents, Don was predeceased by his brother Doug Alred. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Irmo.
