Deborah Ruth Shuler, 70, of Columbia, passed away in her home on Thursday, August 1, 2024, after a valiant fight with cancer. She was born in Columbia on January 30, 1954, to the Reverend Dallas and Sara Watts Goff. Deborah retired after a career in IT Support from AFLAC. Deborah would lose herself in her yard. She loved being outside and working with her flowers. She would even work with her neighbors in their yards. She enjoyed weekend trips out of town. She had a love for cats! Chaos and Magic were her most recent cats, but at one time she was only one cat away from being a “Crazy Cat Lady.” She was wild about her ‘80’s music and the Carolina Gamecocks. Above all, Deborah loved her family and was always her children’s greatest supporter. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Katherine Shuler, her daughter, Michelle Shull; her grandchildren, Kaylee and Landon Shuler, Timothy Shull, and Matthew Jones; and her life partner, Nathan Johnson. She is also survived by her fur babies, Chaos and Magic. Besides her parents, Deborah was preceded in death by her sister, Angela Shealy, and her brothers William “Speedy” Goff and Dewayne Goff. A memorial service for Deborah will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, in the Temples-Halloran Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Jody Flowers will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made in Deborah’s memory to Pawmetto Lifeline (1275 Bower Parkway, Columbia, SC 29212 or Pawmetto Lifeline)
