Deanie Sams Tourville

Deanie Sams Tourville, 77, of Columbia, SC suddenly passed away on January 17, 2021, due to cardio arrest.She was born in Charlotte, NC on October 20, 1943, to the late John W. Sams, Jr. and Ella Mae Sams and was preceded in death by her brother John W. Sams III. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 56 years, Bill, her daughters, Suzanne (Loukas Grafakos), and Julie (Nic Finelli), and her six grandchildren, Joanna, Dina, and Dora Grafakos, and Leo, Stella, and Eli Finelli.She is also survived by her sisters, Barbara (Ron Lukat) and Jennifer Schaaf. Deanie graduated from Plattsburgh High School in Plattsburgh, NY, and from Kings College in Charlotte, NC.She was an active member of Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church.She previously served as an Executive Assistant to the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Colonial Life Insurance company and to the President of the United Way of the Midlands. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, Columbia, SC on Friday, January 22, at 2:00 PM, with burial following in Bush River Memorial Gardens. Reverend Peter Sousa, C.Ss.R. will officiate.The family is being assisted by Temples-Halloran Funeral Home.
