David "Larry" Mills

David Larry Mills, 69,passed away on June 8, 2017.He was born in Columbia, SC on August 25, 1947, the youngest child of Homer and Viola Mills. Larry is survived by sisters, Lauren (Florence) Spiers of Acworth, GA and Faye Anderson,; brother, W. M. (Mike) (Judy) Mills; half-sister, Patsy Petttigrew; step-brother, Monroe Blackwell all of Columbia, SC.Larry was greatly loved by his many nieces and nephews. After graduation from Columbia High School in 1966, Larry earned an architectural/drafting degree from Midlands Technical College. Among his hobbies were, fishing, riding his Harley, restoring cars and supporting the Carolina Gamecocks. Larry did not consider being born with only one hand a handicap.He taught himself to play the guitar, fiddle and harmonica, playing with a local group call “The Parking Lot Pickers”. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017 in Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212.
