CHAPIN, SC—Funeral service for Charlie Paul Farley, Sr., 96, of Chapin, formerly of Monterey, TN. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m., Monday, December 4, 2017 at The Whitson Funeral Home, 30 N. Dixie Avenue, Cookeville, TN 38501. Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Reverend Paul Allen and Reverend Shawen Farley, officiating. Burial will follow the service in Sand Springs Memorial Gardens in Monterey, Tennessee.Pallbearers will be his six grandchildren. Mr. Farley, beloved husband of 63 years to the late Dorothy Jewel Farley, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017.He was born in Monterey, Tennessee to the late John Howard Farley and Loucinda Howard Farley. He was a member of Chapin United Methodist Church and the Thursday Morning Men’s Prayer Group. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was in the Battle of the Bulge. Before entering the service, he served in the CCC, Civilian Conservation Corp. He was a member of the American Legion Chapin Post 193.He retired after 30 years of devoted service from General Motors. Surviving are two sons, Jerry M. Farley (Sue) of Brandon, MS, and Charlie P. “Chuck” Farley, Jr. (Linda) of Chapin, SC;sister, Reba Barton (Paul) of Beavercreek, OH; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Legion, Cookeville, TN 38501. F
