Charles Edward "Chad" Shelton Iii

Funeral services for Charles Edward “Chad” Shelton, III, 58, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, 3050 Leaphart Road, West Columba, South Carolina, 29169, with the Reverend Cynthia Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Chad was born on December 6, 1964, to the late Charles Edward Shelton, Jr., and Dorothy Rebecca Johnson Shelton. He passed away in his home, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, January 21, 2023. After proudly serving his country in the United States Army, Chad became employed by the University of South Carolina, where he served for 25 years in the Thomas Cooper Library and later began working in the circulation department of the MUSC library. Chad was a longtime member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church and gave of his time to coach and umpire Pineview Baseball. He was also an avid Cheerleading dad. Chad also loved watching sports, especially the Redskins, Clemson Tigers, and UNC Tar Heels. Surviving family members include his loving wife of 34 years: Kathryn C. “Kit” Shelton, of West Columbia, SC; his son, Chase Shelton, of Summerville, SC; daughter: Caroline T. Watts (Drew), of West Columbia, SC; brothers: Brian Shelton of Irmo, SC and Brad Shelton of West Columbia SC; sister: Frances “Sissie” Shelton Stutts of West Columbia, SC; grandson: Jeter Shelton, of Summerville, SC; a host of nieces and nephews; and his beloved grand dog: Dabo.
