Charles “Chuck” Roscoe Elwood, 83, of Peak, passed away after a hard-fought battle with cancer on Friday, September 29, 2023, with his family by his side. He was born on May 20, 1940, in Edmeston, New York and grew up in Sidney Center, New York. Chuck was a proud Navy veteran having served from 1959-1965 in the Seabees. He worked as a superintendent of commercial construction. He was the owner/operator of Eagle Construction Company. Chuck enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, salmon fishing in Alaska and horses. He was a cowboy at heart and will always be remembered for his work ethic, generosity, and willingness to help others. Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Margaret “Peggy” Elwood; his children, Tamera Beers (Thomas), Jacquelyn Miller (John), Terri Dukes (Michael) and Robert Elwood; his grandchildren, Riley Sabo, Andrew Miller, Lynsi Beers, Rachel Miller, Maggie Dukes, Leah Beers, Emily Dukes, Timothy Dukes, Xander Dukes, and MacKenzie Elwood; and one great-grandchild, Evelyn. He is also survived by his brother, Russell Elwood (Gail) and his sister, Susan Calehuff (David), and many nieces and nephews. A private family service is planned for Sunday.
