Cecil England, 87, of Lexington South Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 18, 1937, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, Cecil led a life marked by dedication, integrity and devotion to those he loved. Cecil was a proud graduate of both Cumberland College and Lincoln Memorial University. He built a successful 40- year career with the JC Penney Company and served his country in the military while working there, receiving an honorable discharge in 1966. His commitment to both his career and his country earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues, friends, and family. In 1959, Cecil married the love of his life, Barbara Jean Hodge. Together, they shared 65 wonderful years of marriage, raising three children in a home filled with love and faith. Cecil is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara; his son, Gregory England and his wife, Tammy; his daughter, Kathryn Kearse and her husband, Chuck. His youngest son, David, predeceased him in 2007, and is survived by his wife, Libby. Cecil was also a proud grandfather to four grandchildren: Rachel England Allison, and her husband Aaron; Andrew David England; William Gregory England; and Meredith Grace Kearse. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, cherishing each moment together. Cecil was an active and faithful member of his church community, serving in various roles, including teacher, deacon, and elder. His deep faith and commitment to serving others were evident in all aspects of his life. An avid sports fan, Cecil’s heart was with the Kentucky Wildcats, cheering them on through every football and basketball season. He also enjoyed playing golf, a pastime that brought him much joy and camaraderie. His love for the game was only surpassed by his love for his family and his faith. Cecil England will be remembered for his warm heart, strong faith, and unwavering love for his family. A dedicated Christian, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 @ 11:00AM at the Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, South Carolina 29212. A Celebration of Life and Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 @ 11:00AM. The service will be held at the First Christian Church, 2130 West Cumberland Avenue, Middlesboro, Kentucky 40965. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to the First Christian Church in Middlesboro Kentucky.
