Carroll N. Swain, 93, of Chapin, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023. Born on February 2, 1929, in Ogden, Iowa, he was the son of the late Harold Swain and Merle Morgan Swain. Mr. Swain was a 10-year Air Force veteran and served during the Korean War. After his military service, he worked for many years at Allied Chemical, first in Richmond, VA, and later in Columbia beginning in 1969. He was a farmer at heart and a self-taught artist, who loved to fish and hunt. Mr. Swain was a member of First Baptist Church in Prosperity, where he served as a deacon. He especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mr. Swain is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Ola Chandler Swain, and sons, Mac Swain (Lois) and Micah Swain (Laurie), and son-in-law, Ernie King. His daughter, Phyllis King, and his son, James Swain, predeceased him. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Justin (Aimee), Michael (Christy), Joshua, Ashley (Travis), Paisley (Jeff), Devin, Karli, Jessica, Kelley, Jason (Stefni) and his many great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters. Private graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.
