Carolyn W. Tolley

Carolyn Wilma Tolley, age 90, residing at 1416 Brookview Rd. Columbia, SC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on this day Monday, March 8th, 2021. She departed this world, safe, warm, and surrounded by love. She was born on Nov 1, 1930, in Florence S.C. to Charles and Harriett Buchanan and was the fifth of six children. She would later become the mother to five, grandmother to seven, and great-grandmother to fourteen. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Elvin Ford (Al) Tolley. Their marriage was a true love story for the ages. For many years after their children were grown, one could often find them together in the afternoons, having coffee and sharing the day’s events. In addition to being the matriarch to a large family, she was also a proud employee of (Prisma Health) Baptist Hospital, serving as a Unit Secretary in the New-Born Nursey for over 30 years. She found value and accomplishment in her work but most of all, she found friendship among the close group of women she worked alongside them each day. She was the soft-spoken voice of reason that guided her husband and her children throughout their lives. She leaves behind her children, Mark A. Tolley (Charlotte), Rebecca T. Dominick (West Columbia), Elizabeth C. Tolley (of the Home), Joseph C.Tolley (Irmo), and James R. Tolley (of the Home). Grandchildren, Joshua Tolley, Jeremiah Tolley, Lauren Barrett, Kayla Houser, Justin Huckeriede, Ashley Ebert (of the Home), and Allie Dominick. Great-grandchildren include Troy and Anabelle Faulkner, Natalie and Austin Tolley, Grayce and Jackson Tolley, Ashton and Avery Barrett, Nora and June Houser. Michael and Isabella Ebert (of the Home). Rowyn Kennedy, Marley Cochran, and Bradley Huckeriede. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at 11:00 AM, at Bush River Memorial Gardens with her eldest son, Mark A. Tolley, officiating.
