West Columbia—Funeral services for Carolyn Summey Bowers, 76, of West Columbia, will be held at 12 noon, Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Temples Halloran Funeral Home Chapel, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212.Entombment will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The Reverend Dr. Carol Bird will officiate.The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Bowers, widow of the late Clarence M. Bowers, Sr., died Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Lexington Medical Center.Born in Greenwood, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Ray Summey and Frances Naomi Shull Summey.She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She had retired as a bookkeeper from J. A. Free, Jr. Company, Inc. Surviving are her daughter, Joy L. Horton and husband Glen of Cayce; son, Clarence M. Bowers, Jr. and wife, Dana of West Columbia; grandchildren, Cody D. Grant, Tony Horton, Lester H. “Trey” Liles, Jami R. Liles, Ashley D. Bowers, Rachel “Niki” Nicole Bowers, Savanna L. Logan and McKenna Ryer.She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years and a brother, James R. Summey. In lieu of flowers the Bowers family request memorials be made to a charity of your choice.
