Carol Ann Preston

A Celebration of Life Service for Carol Ann Preston, 90, of Irmo, will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. Union United Methodist Church, 7582 Woodrow Street, Irmo, SC 29063. The Reverend David Anderson will officiate. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the church. Carol was born in Chicago, IL on November 2, 1931, to the late William Matthews and Cornelia Dewey Matthews. She passed away on September 6, 2022, surrounded by her adoring family, at the Palmettos of Charleston. Carol worked many different jobs while obtaining her Master’s degree in Education at USC. In her 70’s, she joined the Peace Corps and lived in China for 2 years. She also enjoyed volunteering with Sharing God’s Love and Habitat for Humanity. Carol was very active in the Irmo Community, she wrote for Irmo News, played bridge, golf, tennis, and also enjoyed quilting. Carol was also an avid traveler. She offered tutoring services for any students in need at River Springs and H. E. Corley Elementary Schools. Survivors include her sons, Ronald Preston (Tara), Steve Preston, and Richard Preston (Miranda); grandchildren, Brittany Kimber (Chris), Matthew Preston, (fiancée Caity), Christian Preston (fiancée Miriam), Casey Preston, Michael Preston, and Miles Preston; great-grandchildren, Lilleigh, Logan, and Abby. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Ronald Preston; sisters, Joy Stoltz and Emily Rock; granddaughter, Megan Alyse Preston.
