Carl Thomas “Tommy” Suddeth, 67, of Columbia, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024. He was born in Greenville, SC, on April 3, 1956, to Joe Thomas Suddeth and June Bowen Suddeth. Tommy graduated from Irmo High School in 1974. He was the owner/operator of Suddeth Towing and later was the warehouse manager for Whit-Ash Furniture. Tommy was a member of the Dutch Fork Optimist Club. He loved playing golf and fishing. Tommy also worked for NASCAR for many years. Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Donna Vandiver Suddeth; his mother; his daughters, Kimberly Suddeth and Kristen Jones (Justin); and his granddaughter, Alexis Suddeth. He is also survived by his siblings, Jo Carol Childers and Michael Suddeth (Kathy); and brothers-in-law, Kirk Vandiver and Bill Vandiver; and mother-in-law, Myrtle Prim. Tommy was preceded in death by his father and his sister, Lynn Johnson. A memorial service for Tommy will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Ashland United Methodist Church. The Reverend Scott Efird will officiate. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on the day of the service in Ashland Hall. A reception will follow the service in Ashland Hall.
