Cameron Ferris Mathias

The memorial service for Cameron Ferris Mathias, 22, of Columbia, will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Temples-Halloran Funeral Home (5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212), with the Reverend Mark Bredholt, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. An inurnment will follow at a later date in Bush River Memorial Gardens. Cameron was born on January 22, 2001, at Lexington Medical Center and departed this earthly life on April 27, 2023. She was the daughter of Amber Ferris and the late David Mathias, III. Cameron grew up in Irmo and was a graduate of Irmo High School. After high school, she spent time in Florida and enjoyed fun and sunny weather, she resided in Columbia. Cameron was a bright light who loved life. She was funny, creative and lit up the room with her personality. She enjoyed spending time with family, making music, fashion, creating art, and cooking with her favorite hot sauce Sriracha. She was a talented singer and had a beautiful voice. She loved animals and her beloved family dogs, Daisy, Frankie, and Ollie. She loved nature. Butterflies and hummingbirds were her favorites. Cameron worked in home health and was a caretaker for many families. She enjoyed helping others and shared her compassionate heart with everyone she met. She enjoyed spending time with her best friend Madalind and her boyfriend Nick. She had many friends and family that loved her dearly. She was treasured by all who met her and was an amazing girl who filled us all with great memories. She loved going to the river and spending time on Lake Murray. She also liked traveling and would frequently take trips and vacations to the mountains and the beach. Be reminded that Cameron lives on in our hearts with each sunrise and sunset that we see. Cameron is survived by her mother, Amber Ferris; maternal grandmother, Beth Ferris (Dave); paternal grandmother, Margaret Mathias-Brumbaugh (Phil); aunts, Holly Ferris and Tara Minor (John); uncles, D.J. Ferris (Karen) and Brandon Mathias (Cindy); great aunts, Barbara Daniels (Walter) and Libby Young; and cousins, Samuel, Sarah Grace and Ruthann Minor; and Brandon Mathias, Jr. Cameron was preceded in death by her father, David Mathias, III; her grandfather, David Mathias, Jr.; and great grandparents, Margaret and Jack Mathias.
