Brenda Whittle Waites

The funeral service for Brenda W. Waites, 71, of Columbia, will be held on Tuesday August 15, 2023, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Temples-Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia 29212. Interment will follow at Bush River Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Brenda was born on December 2, 1951, in Columbia, and departed this earthly life to be with the Lord on August 10, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Wilbur E. Whittle and Leila Still Whittle. She was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church of Irmo. Brenda attended Eau Claire High School and the University of South Carolina. She enjoyed shagging to beach music, working in her yard and loved to cook for her family and friends. Brenda worked for the South Carolina Secretary of State’s Office for many years, and then later in the banking industry. Survivors include daughter, Tiffany W. Wrigley (Derrick); son, Tony Waites and his two children; sister, Patricia Coogler (Sam); and nephew, Jimmy Keller. Those who preceded her in death besides her parents were her sister, Elaine W. Hunter, and nephews, Ernie and Kent Hunter. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to New Hope Lutheran Church, 1725 Old Tamah Road, Irmo, South Carolina 29063 and the ALS Association .
