COLUMBIA—Bonnie Jean Moore McGuffin, 88, of Columbia, SC, passed away March 31, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. She was known to many as "Nanny", the name she chose when she became a grandmother. Bonnie Jean McGuffin was born July 11, 1928 in Chesterfield, SC, raised in Bennettsville, South Carolina, graduating from Bennettsville High School, where she played basketball. She graduated from both Mars Hill College and Stetson University, majoring in Religious Education. Bonnie Jean married Harold Andrew McGuffin on May 16, 1953. Throughout their 63 years of marriage, their love for the Lord, each other, and their four boys, was evident to all who knew them. Nothing made Nanny happier than being with her family. Bonnie Jean was a dedicated worker with the WMU organization andchildren of the church. She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, Harold, their sons, wives, ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and another great grandchild due in April. Sons and their wives; Stan (Linda) McGuffin, Ken (Jan) McGuffin, Dave (Anne) McGuffin, Glenn (Susie) McGuffin; 10 grandchildren and their spouses: Welles (Jeremy) Bricker, Brad McGuffin, Drew (Carrie), Kristen (Russell) Matherly, Kate McGuffin (Trevor Peterson), Elizabeth (Joseph) Simmons, Conor McGuffin, Kelly McGuffin, Caitlin McGuffin, and Paul McGuffin; three great grandchildren: Maggie Rae Moore Bricker, Wyatt Bricker and River Peterson. Funeral services for Bonnie will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Chapel of Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212 with burial in Bush River Memorial Gardens.The Reverend Clark McCrary will officiate.The family will greet friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Irmo, 7068 Nursery Road, Columbia, South Carolina 29212.
