Betty Jean Kimball Zeigler, 84, of Columbia, SC, passed away at Lexington Medical Center on October 23, 2016 after an extended illness.Born in Columbia and raised in Blythewood, SC, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Samuel and Ollie Muse Jackson. Betty worked in retail for many years at department stores in the Columbia area, later becoming a fulltime homemaker and “Nana.” Betty was a lovely woman who dressed with impeccable taste.A hair was never out of place and her nails were always polished.Betty and Jimmy were RV people and traveled for years by themselves and with their camping group until Betty’s declining health prevented traveling. Betty is survived by her husband, James F. Zeigler; her brother, Robert Jackson (Teresa) of Lexington; her step-son, Robert Kimball (Barbara) of Cayce; her step-daughter, Katie Z. Bassett (Burt); her step-son, Bill Zeigler (Donna Kirby); nieces and nephews.She is also survived by her “adopted” family:Diane Willis, Wayne Willis, Geri Willis Kinard, Brittany Kinard, Sarah Kinard, and Allen Kinard.Also surviving her is her beloved poodle and faithful companion, Pepper.She was predeceased by her first husband, Charles W. Byrd, her second husband, Willie Kimball, her son, Charles W. “Charlie” Byrd, Jr., two brothers and a sister. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2016 at Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212.
