Betty Ann Franklin

Betty Ann Franklin, 91, of Little Mountain departed this earthly life on June 22, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 15, 1930, in Tans Bay S.C. Betty was the daughter of the late Joseph Mitchum and Maggie Kirby Mitchum. Betty was a proud graduate of the old Columbia High School Class of 1949. She was a longtime member of Park Street Baptist Church and later Dutch Fork Baptist Church. Mrs. Franklin retired from Allied Chemical after many years of dedicated service. Survivors include her only son, A. L. “Art” Franklin, Jr., (Sherri) of Gilbert; daughters, Deborah Holmes Harrington (Tim) of N. Augusta, and Donna Westfall (John) of Little Mountain; sister, Julia Neal of Davie FL; four grandchildren, Alin Franklin (Karen), Brett Holmes (Elizabeth), Maggie Childs (Eric) and Katie Boles (Landy) along with thirteen great-grandchildren as well. She was preceded in death by her parents, and late husband, A. L. “Buck” Franklin, Sr. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Temples Halloran Funeral Home, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Burial will follow in Bush River Memorial Gardens. Reverend Butch Powell will officiate. The Franklin family will receive friends at the funeral home following the interment. The family would like to thank the hard-working and compassionate staff of Prisma Health Hospice.
